Sales & Marketing - Currencies & Emerging Markets - Associate
As an Associate in Currencies and Emerging Markets (CEM) Sales, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of all products across EM and G10 with a core focus on Asia markets. You will transact with a broad range of clients (asset managers, insurance accounts, pension funds, banks, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds etc.). You will be required to work with our partners in trading and research to provide comprehensive client coverage across both EM and G10 markets but with a specific focus on Asia markets including fulfilling client requests for market updates, assisting with the execution of client orders and providing clients with market intelligence.
You will be responsible for the entire trade execution process including trade booking, new issue order taking and general sales back-up across the desk. You will need to demonstrate proficiency in identifying market drivers across the various Asia markets as well as developed markets, understanding product terminology while showing a high degree of interest in learning about other products and developing a cross-product skill set. The ideal candidate will have a strong intellectual curiosity, a high degree of organization and attention to detail, and the ability to perform well under high pressure situations with the appropriate degree of urgency.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- Product knowledge – we look to bring on individuals who have worked with the products they will be covering in some capacity and/or have a strong interest in Financial Markets.
- The candidate should have an understanding of Emerging Markets, specifically Asia markets which would be a core focus of the role. This would be across, but not limited to, the FX and Fixed Income markets.
- Understanding of derivatives, their pricing conventions and usage, especially those related to the FX and Fixed Income products in the Emerging Markets in Asia is a pre-requisite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial concepts into simple terms and actionable steps
- Quantitative skills - must be comfortable in dealing with numbers and numerical concepts. Comfort in using MS Excel including the ability to do data analysis of large data sets or analyzing models will be required.
- Superior attention to detail
- Excellent presentation skills and understanding of the sales process
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in the front office role in the investment bank
- Bachelor’s degree is required
